Recently I conducted a digital diary, or recorded my daily life with anything technological, for five weekdays and I realized a lot of things that I hadn't realized before. I realized during a normal week I spend way too much time watching Netflix and playing video games. I spend a total of 16 hours playing video games and a total of 17 hours watching Netflix. All together in a week that is 33 hours total. That's almost a 40 hour work week of television. I could be using this time to get a job and actually make money. I am also very connected to my phone as well. I spend a total of 12 hours a week checking my social media. This consists of 5 hours of Twitter, 5 hours of Instagram, and 2 hours of Facebook. I have a problem with checking my social media constantly to stay connected. I spend a total of 5 hours a week play games on my phone to pass the time when I'm bored. Whether it's Clash of Clans or Angry Birds 2 I always play way too much. The last thing that I do a lot of that I don't see as a problem is listening to 10 hours of music at least every week. Music makes the week go by quicker, helps me concentrate, and gets me through hard times.
The digital life is often said to consume our generations lifestyle and I always thought that wasn't true, but after conducting this digital diary I realize that it's true for me. I spend way too much time on all my digital devices whether its television or my phone. I want to try and get away from all this technology and try to interact with people in person rather than looking at my phone or television screen.
